Technology is a driving force that continues to shape and redefine every aspect of society, including education. This phenomenon offers students and educators new affordances for teaching and learning, including innovative ways to present information, differentiation of instruction for diverse learners, and platforms for collaborative learning (Williams & DiBella, 2015). However, an array of challenges also accompanies technology’s potential benefits. While every decade has brought about new developments in technology, the last one has seen a radical shift, with digital devices and software now positioned as indispensable necessities. Although today’s learners are digital natives (Prensky, 2001), growing up immersed in this digital culture, many educators find themselves grappling with the additional, multiplex requirements of teaching in the 21st century (Fishman & Dede, 2016).
