The reasons for the foundation of the Concrete Institute are briefly outlined. Its organization and scope are described, and its achievements, particularly its role in drafting the London County Council Reinforced Concrete Regulations and in establishing a standard notation for reinforced concrete, are discussed. A short analysis of its membership is given.
