SYNOPSIS
Frensham Little Pond main dam is of masonry construction on a very loose sand foundation with a sand embankment providing lateral support to the flank dams. The reservoir is environmentally important, forming part of internationally designated heathland. The paper describes the rehabilitation works carried out in 2013, following recommendations in the interests of safety, which comprised chemical grouting of the masonry spillway structure, construction of a new concrete spillway channel to lengthen the seepage path, and surface repairs to the masonry with lime mortar.
