This chapter will introduce seven representative wireless communication technologies, which have been extensively used to realise data transmission across diverse scales. Considering the coverage requirements in different application scenarios, four short-range coverage technologies (i.e., Bluetooth, Zigbee, Z-Wave and WiFi) and three wider-coverage ones (i.e., LoRaWAN, Sigfox and cellular 5G) are included. Key performance factors of these wireless communication technologies are compared, including but not limited to the frequency band, bandwidth, coverage range and data rate. Typical applications of these technologies are also briefly described.
