The three elephants that adorn the front cover of this book result from having asked a group of children what comes to mind when they think of an elephant. As such, each of the drawings represents a perspective or way of seeing or understanding regarding an elephant.

These images also remind us of the “elephant in the room”, those hard-to-deal-with issues that loom in our midst that we sometimes find difficult to talk about. We hope this publication serves as a potential site for taking up such perspectives and provocations in early childhood education.
