This chapter contains an exploratory study that examined the perceptions of language instructors of professionals and educators of learners with speech and language challenges at Portland State University (PSU) of the sudden transition to online/remote teaching and learning in Spring 2020 due to the unprecedented disruptions and closures caused by COVID-19. Qualitative approaches were utilized in gathering and analyzing data from language instructors. The results indicated that there were challenges related to preparation for the sudden shift to online instruction, adapting to the online system, and dealing with technical issues. Despite these issues, instructors were determined to ensure the success of online instruction for the benefit of students who may work with learners with speech and hearing challenges upon graduation. The implications of the sudden transition to online instruction and learning post COVID-19 are discussed.
