He was different from any other student that had ever walked into my classroom. In fact, I was intimidated from the moment I met him. His eyes were piercing, blue, and fearless. His anger was always close to the surface. Not only was his home life troubled, but he also already had a police record and school was the least of his concern. Gang affiliated, he openly mocked other students because of their naïve approach to life. He had no trouble challenging authority, and it was evident that I had my work cut out for me the minute he walked into my room.
