The “revolution” in school mathematics which has come into prominence during the past few years and which is steadily gaining momentum in Saskatchewan, has posed many significant problems. Much attention has been placed upon the development of curriculum which might incorporate some of the newer thinking both as to the appropriateness of subject matter and approaches to method. It is fitting that attention be given the most important element in a good teaching situation, namely the teacher. For the crucial factor in effectively changing a teaching approach in the classroom will be the degree to which the teacher is equipped to deal with new ideas, concepts, and innovations.
