First page of Augmenting Educational Realities

I had no idea why I was invited to share my perspectives on technology and education. I am a father, husband, brother, son, artist, technologist—not someone who should be writing about education. I graduated high school with an abysmal grade point average. Yet somehow I made it through and ultimately to a prestigious college. I built a solid career, landing a leadership role working at Google, one of the best companies in the world. And, get this, now I teach an advertising class one day a week at the School of Visual Arts in New York City! I don’t think making it through should be the goal of education. So maybe my story of technology and education can make a contribution. My journey may in fact speak to teachers and leaders of disenfranchised students. You never know which student that frustrates you most may become the next Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, Mark Zuckerberg, or even John Militello.
