Youth are vitally interested to improve their schools and communities. Schooling and their communities are major forces in their lives. This chapter addresses how youth are concerned with social justice in a myriad of ways. The author examines the significance of youth participation in education reform and outlines the multiple ways they engage in efforts for change. She addresses promising practices that can lead to successful outcomes for young people and their schools, featuring a youth-led organization called the Youth Action Center (YAC) to demonstrate the potential of these practices in action. The chapter argues for active youth engagement that promotes positive educational change for themselves and society.
