I am honored to have had the opportunity to orchestrate the production of this Festschrift in honor of Dr. Melvin C. Terrell in recognition of his significant contributions to the student affairs profession. It is particularly timely as the United States struggles to understand the value of Black male lives and provide full recognition of their contributions to the country, economy, communities, and chosen professions. I would first like to thank Dr. Terrell for allowing such a comprehensive project to be done on his unselfish efforts to make college campuses more inclusive and to increase the number of professionals of color serving student interests as well. Appreciation is also in order for those who contributed their work to the Festschrift, which included former students, mentees, colleagues, and individuals impacted by the legacy of Dr. Terrell. All these individuals have continued and extended his work on campus diversity, college student experiences, and professional networking geared toward breaking down barriers in the student affairs profession.
