This chapter is based on an 11-year longitudinal observation of 2 children who were learning Chinese simultaneously with English and French. It demonstrates various effective strategies used by the parents to support the children’s heritage language development in the home environment. The study suggests that different developmental stages require different home teaching strategies to ensure successful heritage-language acquisition and development. The chapter concludes with 7 take-home messages for readers who intend to help their children develop heritage-language skills in the home environment.
