This chapter advocates for the preparation of community schools. In doing so preservice teachers become a catalyst for deepening professional learning communities. The presence of preservice teachers has the potential to transform community schools’ implementation, create communities of practice, and bring the resources of the partner university to support students and their families. Although preservice teachers in community schools are uncommon and without a clear framework, this chapter highlights several of the benefits that result from the placement of preservice teachers in the community school setting.
