An important part of the culturally relevant leadership learning (CRLL) model is leadership identity. It is a pathway for a leader to learn about the process of leadership. From both an individualistic and collective perspective, identity development, in any context, is one of the most personal developmental processes we go through. The case studies provided in this chapter are connected to one’s leadership identity and the ways this identity intersects with other social identities. As aforementioned, leader identity is socially constructed and culturally contextual, so it is critical to examine this dimension of the CRLL model from various perspectives.
