The curricula in management sciences and the strengthening of communication skills in schools have positive implications for the future life of students. Communication skills lead people to express their needs more efficiently. This research aimed to determine the causal relationship between managerial skills and assertive communication developed in university students within the framework of technological mediation implemented by the COVID-19 pandemic. One hundred fourteen graduates completed a self-developed survey with quantitative questions in June and July 2022. A theoretical model with two constructs was proposed: achievement, action and managerial skills. These were tested via designed hypotheses and validated with a structural equation model (SEM). The findings show that both achievement–action competencies and managerial skills have a causal relationship with assertiveness. Thus, this research contributes to the knowledge that operational skills (achievement–action) are more influential than managerial skills in developing personality traits that enhance a faster acquisition of assertive communication.
