The need to protect the environment and public health is becoming increasingly apparent on a global scale in this era of climate change and the COVID-19 pandemic. Numerous issues in the social, political, economic, and environmental domains have arisen as a result of the pandemic (Barone et al., 2021). There is a heightened consciousness about global environmental problems, including acid rain, depletion of the ozone layer, global warming, the growing list of endangered species, and the frequent Amazon forest fires.
Nevertheless, researchers are hard at work coming up with answers that will both protect and conserve the environment and open the door to a sustainable future for future generations. They are working to create state-of-the-art GT solutions that will help industry find sustainable and alternative ways to dispose of garbage. These developments also emphasize the use of bio-based innovative materials to produce safe, affordable, and environmentally responsible goods. Energy, atmospheric science, agriculture, material science, hydrology, and other scientific fields are all included in GT (Barone, Bhari, Boyle, Cen et al., 2021; Basiago, et al., 1995).
