Abstract
If ever there was a critical moment, it is now. Now that environmentally sustainability has become a globally shared consciousness, those who live in this world have to minimize their garbage and use diversion methods that actually work. Waste diversion is a business opportunity and also our moral obligation. But for this industry a critical period has arrived, bringing with it unprecedented challenges and opportunities. As the pressure on global climate increases and footprints shrink, we are at a crucial juncture. This chapter examines how leaders might transform waste management systems and make them more efficient at diverting waste, while still keeping sustainability in view in the long run. This chapter also highlights the benefits of waste and recycling business opportunities that could open doors to the younger generation around the world as a trained occupation.
