This chapter outlines several important skills and training ideas to enhance the effectiveness of both new faculty members and those well into their professional careers. I discuss the importance of recognizing skills developed even before formal training. Those skills can include previous experiences and training tangential to teaching experience within graduate programs. I also discuss how to uncover teaching support once you are a faculty member, including mentoring, peer evaluations, outside training and training focused specifically on pedagogical issues.
