Research on ethnic minority businesses (EMBs) in Scotland remains underdeveloped, with significant gaps in data and methodology. This chapter outlines a research agenda to address these deficiencies. It calls for more disaggregated, Scotland-specific data on finance, sectoral representation, and long-term business outcomes. The chapter also advocates for participatory research methods that centre the voices of minority entrepreneurs. Future inquiries should explore intersectionality, digital entrepreneurship and the impact of procurement policies. Collaboration between academics, policymakers and communities is highlighted as essential for generating actionable knowledge. By framing research as both an analytical and transformative tool, the chapter positions scholarship as a driver of inclusive economic change.
