Researchers want to make generalizations by using the collected data about a sample selected from a population. Two main approaches, statistical tests and statistical estimation (point estimation and CI), are used for the statistical decision.

Point estimation and CI, “How big is the difference between groups?” seeks an answer to the question. This is analogous to statistical significance in the case of whether the hypothesis is nonzero in statistical tests.

While making any statistical evaluation, there is no difference between hypothesis testing and the use of CIs in terms of statistical significance. In this regard, the two can be used interchangeably.
