This chapter introduces ways to analyze context, which is critical to successfully engaging in the leadership process as both a leader and a follower. Using interrogating questions such as "Who?" "What?" "Where?" "When?" "Why?" It provides a good basis. The SHAPE acronym (social, historical, attitudinal, personal, and environment) and various lenses (self, organizational, institutional, and societal) to examine context are introduced and provide a foundation for the rest of the book.
