Abstract
Uttarakhand’s Garhwal region is believed to be the storehouse of traditional wellness practices, enriched with cultural heritage rooted in wisdom since centuries. This chapter studies the relationship between the indigenous wellness practices with the region’s cultural heritage, popularizing their social, historical, and therapeutic importance at global level. After diving deep into the various cultural norms, traditional medicine systems, and spiritual activities of Garhwal, the study aims to underscore the significance of preservation of this heritage in the modern context. The conclusion gives a suggestion that uniting all these activities and practices into contemporary wellness context, it can offer holistic well-being tips, thereby sustaining the culture and preserving the Indigeneity of wellness tourism.
