The cement-rich fraction recovered from recycled concrete has potential for reuse. This paper describes progress towards a characterisation scheme for this fraction and applies it to real construction waste. The cement concentration increases in the finest crushed fractions: the minus 60 mesh concentrate contains ~25% cement, some of which is carbonated. The reactivation of cementitious potential must be achieved at low temperatures to ensure low cost and various routes for its activation.
