The paper presented by Stone, Guest and myself earlier in the conference dealt in some detail with the basic metallurgy of Alloy 800.

The purpose of this contribution is to expand on some of the points raised, and in particular to show the effect of titanium and aluminium on the properties of this alloy through their influence on age hardening behaviour.

In the first place it should be noted that variations of either titanium or aluminium within the ranges of 0.15-0.6% do not have any effect on the tensile properties of Alloy 800 in the solution treated condition within the range 20-700°C.
