At present, when the mortars on a different basis are already the base both for screed materials as well as improvement materials, there are many projects focused on the possibilities of recycling of waste raw materials from building industry in the building production. This contribution is focused on the possibilities of chosen waste materials from the building industry as fillers for straightening and smoothing screed materials. The advantage of possible solution is not only significant decrease of input costs for production of new materials but also of easier and more ecological way for disposal of building materials. Screed materials may be classified due to the type of construction to which they are applied, due to the included binders, and due to suitable width of applied layer. The suitable width of layer is the basic principle for classification of these materials. It is commonly displayed as a range of values. The lower value is usually determined by maximum grain size and the amount of binder, the upper value is usually given by the risk of cracking. The standardized classification of straightening and smoothing materials does not exist, that is why these values for various materials applied on different surfaces overlap.
