At the time of this Handbook going into production the world has been globally afflicted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Not only has the coronavirus infiltrated every race and socio-economic status across the world, it has also emphasised the historical disparity across racial lines. With 40% of minority ethnic employees in post, tabloids galvanised the nation to support the NHS staff, initially depicted as all white teams at the front-line of the attack against the virus. In quick succession, we observed that despite pleading for effective protective equipment, Black, Asian and minority ethnic doctors, nurses and consultants described as BAME, were the first to meet their demise after contracting the virus in the line of duty. (Weaver, 2020; Siddique, 2020). Personally, with a history spanning 3 generations employed within the NHS, it has been a worrying time.
