Strengthening of concrete structures with CFRP sheet has emerged as one of the effective techniques. However, the effectiveness of such strengthening system depends largely on the performance of the interface between concrete and CFRP sheet in epoxy joint. For strengthening design with epoxy bonded CFRP sheets; the bond between concrete and CFRP is a major factor to be kept in mind. The bond strength of such joints depends on concrete strength, type and thickness of CFRP and bonded length. In this paper, experimental results are reported on the bond strength of CFRP sheet externally bonded to concrete with epoxy adhesive. The failure types of the system and average as well as the maximum bond strengths are reported. The effects of concrete strength, bond length and the thickness of CFRP sheet on average bond strength are described. Finally a simple expression to estimate the average bond strength of joint for flexible CFRP sheet used in this study is suggested on the basis of experimental results.
