This chapter is directly related to the previous one but will focus instead on the impact that an effective communication of risk can have on decision makers and outcomes. This is a shift in focus from Chapter 4, which featured the process of risk communication and how to effectively communicate (so, the focus was mainly on the communicator) to instead consider the impact of the communication on others (i.e. the audience/target). Through discussing impact on decisions and outcomes, this transforms and develops the discussion on risk communication in Chapter 4 into a more practically relevant and impactful presentation, making the topic have greater focus on practice than academic relevance.
