Concerning a comment on spray from sea walls, naturally sea spray has a detrimental effect on vegetation, structures, finishes and vehicles.
Designers have usually considered the near effects on vehicles, personnel and drainage adjacent to the construction of sea walls. However, the problems caused by designing hard wall sea defences near property which, during certain storm conditions, can move sea spray further inland is often ignored by designers, funding agencies and clients. Research on the distances severe sea spray can be carried might be useful to planners and insurance companies.
