Abstract
This chapter explores the foundational principles of ordo-liberalism and its pivotal role in shaping the economic social market. Tracing its historical roots and philosophical underpinnings, we delve into the critical analysis of liberal thought as professed by its forefathers, Eucken, Röpke, and Rüstow. We dissect ordo-liberal philosophy and its economic theory, underscoring the deep-seated ethics of human dignity central to the economic orbit. Focussing on the operationalization and objectives of ordo-liberalism, we try to highlight the metamorphosis of juridical norms into economic rules. This chapter dissects the intricate relationship between market regulations and the State's role, interrogating modern-day applications and perceptions, particularly in mouridism economic. The concept, which played an instrumental role in Germany's post-war revival, aligns deeply with the tenets of a social market economy, presenting a counter-narrative to laissez-faire capitalism.
