First page of Leadership Lessons from Women in High-risk Environments

The UN aims to end extreme poverty, protect the health of the planet, and create a future where every person lives with opportunity and dignity by 2030 through the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The question then becomes: what qualities do we need to possess as leaders to achieve the SDGs? Biases and misconception related to what leadership qualities are needed, as well as who might be best suited to offer leadership lessons, limit our ability to answer this question. I propose that by overcoming these biases to learn how marginalized women empower themselves and others to create change, we gain valuable insights for all leaders implementing the SDGs for collective well-being.
