Session V Discussion

DR H, SCHMALE (Rheinische-Westfalisches Elektrizi tatswerk AG), Session Chairman: Being in charge of the nuclear fuel cycle and the procurement of conventional fuel with a private utility, I feel that I can make a useful contribution to this session by giving my personal impression of the present supply situation and prevailing tendenc ies .

For a consumer, the only facts that count are the possibilities and conditions of supply which are actually offered on the market. The old type of requirement contract formerly offered by the USAEC in practice turned out to be a reasonable approach for the utilities. With the new policy the USAEC has initiated a most exciting develop ment in contract conditions which may lead to disaster for the utilities!
