Confessions of a Behavioral Strategist!

I feel very fortunate to be included in this edited volume of Advances in Strategic Management (on Behavioral Strategy) alongside so many of my favorite academic colleagues and friends. I am also grateful that the three coeditors of this volume have given me the creative latitude to write in a more open and personal style that departs from the traditional academic writing format. A number of circumstances led to my opting for a confessional format, and my hope is that you, the academic reader, will find this alternative literary approach a refreshing complement to our traditionally impersonal mode of written communication. I’m also hoping to minimize risk by ensuring that – whether you enjoy this style or not – this will be a quick and easy read! Finally, I also hope that my approach provides additional color to this volume by expanding the discussion of the thing called behavioral strategy to include the persons who identify (or are easily identifiable) as behavioral strategists in the strategic management field.
