Héctor Luis Adriani <adrianiluis59@gmail.com> is Professor of Geography at the National University of La Plata, Argentina, and has held leadership academic positions at Argentine universities, at the national government offices, and at the National Council of Research and Technologies in Buenos Aires. He is the author of numerous articles, book chapters, and presentations at academic events in Latin America.

Maria D. Alvarez <alvarezm@boun.edu.tr> is Associate Professor at the Department of Tourism Administration at Boğaziçi University in Turkey. She has published several articles in leading academic journals, including Annals of Tourism Research, Tourism Management, International Journal of Tourism Research, Current Issues in Tourism, Journal of Travel and Tourism Marketing. She has also been involved in several internationally-financed destination development projects. Her research interests include tourist behavior, destination marketing, and tourism development.

Julio Aramberri <jraramberri@gmail.com> is Visiting Professor at Dongbei University of Finance & Economics in Dalian, China. For several years, he worked in the industry where he was CEO of Turespaña, the governmental agency in charge of worldwide tourism promotion to Spain. Over the last 20 years, he was a tenured professor of tourism at Drexel University (USA) and Dean of the School of Tourism & Hospitality at Hoa Sen University (Viet Nam). His research deals mainly with the sociology, development, and promotion of tourism.

Peter Björk <peter.bjork@hanken.fi> is Associate Professor at HANKEN School of Economics, Finland. He is Associate Editor for Scandinavian Journal of Hospitality and Tourism and Finnish Journal of Tourism Research. His research focus is in the field of tourism marketing, sustainable tourism, ecotourism, and destination development. He has a special interest in destination branding and tourism innovations.

Chris Cooper <ccooper@brookes.ac.uk> is Pro-Vice Chancellor and Dean of the Business Faculty at Oxford Brookes University, United Kingdom. He works with international agencies, including UNWTO where he held the Chair of the Education Council (2005 – 2007) and was awarded the UN Ulysses Medal for contributions to tourism education and policy in 2009. He is Co-editor of Current Issues in Tourism and is a member of the editorial boards of several leading journals. He has authored a number of leading textbooks in tourism and is Co-series Editor of Aspects of Tourism and Series Editor of Contemporary Tourism Reviews.

Bengi Ertuna <bengie@boun.edu.tr> is Professor of Finance in the Department of Tourism Administration at Boğaziçi University, Turkey. Her research interests include corporate governance and social responsibility, SMEs and sustainable tourism development, and rural tourism. She has published articles on initial public offerings, tourism investment appraisal models, small business finance in hospitality industry and corporate governance and social responsibility practices in Turkey.

Eduardo Fayos-Solà <president@ulyssesfoundation.org> is President of the Ulysses Foundation, Fellow of the International Academy for the Study of Tourism, and Professor at the University of Valencia in Spain. As Former Director for Europe at UNWTO; Executive Secretary of the UNWTO Knowledge Network; Director General of Tourism of Spain; Spanish Representative for Tourism at the European Commission in Brussels; Founding President of the UNWTO Themis Foundation; and architect of the TedQual Certification, his professional interests include destination management and private-public policies, focusing on tourism for development, policy and governance, and science, technology, and innnovation.

Heredina Fernández-Betancort <hfernandez@dede.ulpgc.es>, PhD in psychology, is Professor in the Department of Economics and Business Management, University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria in Spain. She is Coordinator of Research, Development and Innovation in the university center for Tourism Studies in Lanzarote. Her research interest is framed in tourism, psychological and social impact, informal learning in heritage sites and museums, and ICT.

Laura Fuentes Moraleda <laura.fuentes@urjc.es> is Vice Dean at the Tourism Sciences Faculty at Rey Juan Carlos University, Spain. With a PhD in Tourism Policy from Nebrija University, she is Lecturer of Tourism Market Analysis and Tourism Planning at Rey Juan Carlos University, both for undergraduate and postgraduate courses. During the past 12 years her professional activity has been linked to the field of tourism destination management. She has contributed to activities related to development projects in tourism destinations in European and Latin American countries, while working with domestic, public, and private agencies.

Leonardo Garavito González <leonardo.garavito@uexternado.edu.co>, PhD in Urban and Environmental Studies from El Colegio de México, Master in Population Studies from Universidad Externado de Colombia, is at the present time Academic Coordinator for the Master degree in Tourism Planning and Management, professor and researcher in social networks, social movements, tourism and development, public policy and socio-environmental projects at both Hotel and Tourism Management, and Social and Human Sciences Faculties of Universidad Externado de Colombia.

Burçin Hatipoğlu <burcin.hatipoglu@boun.edu.tr> is Lecturer in the Department of Tourism Administration, Boğaziçi University, Turkey. She has been involved in several sustainable tourism development projects and consulted industry organizations. She is part of an international team of scholars that are developing a cross-cultural student education program for learning sustainable tourism. Her research interests include human capital development and reporting, and sustainable tourism development.

Ernie Heath <ernie.heath@up.ac.za> is Professor in the Department of Business Management, University of Pretoria, South Africa. Previously he served on the UNWTO Education Council and was also Deputy Executive Director of South African Tourism responsible for the international marketing and domestic tourism promotion. He is an experienced tourism practitioner and educator, for which he has received various local and international awards, and has taught, researched, and consulted in the tourism and tertiary sectors for over 30 years. His broad research interests are primarily in the fields of community tourism development, strategic destination marketing, and tourism management education.

Eman M. Helmy <eman.rus@cas.edu.om> is Associate Professor in the Faculty of Tourism and Hotel Management, Helwan University, Egypt. She is currently the Head of the International Business Administration Department, Al-Rustaq College of Applied Sciences in the Sultanate of Oman. She received her PhD from the International Center of Tourism and Hospitality Research, Bournemouth University, in 1999. She has published a set of academic papers in international as well as Egyptian academic journals. Her major research areas are sustainable tourism development, planning, marketing, and ecotourism.

Joan C. Henderson <ahenderson@ntu.edu.sg> is Associate Professor at Nanyang Business School at Nanyang Technological University in Singapore where she has worked since 1997. After periods of employment in the public and private tourism sectors, she lectured in Travel and Tourism in the United Kingdom. Her PhD thesis, completed at the University of Edinburgh, was on the subject of social tourism. Her current research interests include crisis management and tourism, heritage as an attraction, and tourism in the Asia Pacific region.

Francisco Madrid Flores <francisco.madrid@anahuac.mx> is Dean of Tourism School at Anáhuac University and professor at National Polytechnic Institute, both in Mexico City. With a PhD in tourism from the Antonio de Nebrija University of Spain, he served for 23 years in Mexico’s Secretary of Tourism and two years in UNWTO. Author of two books, Diagnosis and opportunities of the tourism in Mexico (2012) and Realities and Myths of the Mexican tourism (2013), he is Editor of the Panorama de la Actividad Turística en México, a research publication of the National Tourism Business Council. His primary research interests include tourism governance and policy.

Ana Isabel Muñoz Mazón <ana.munoz@urjc.es>, PhD in Tourism Policy, is Professor at the Rey Juan Carlos University of Spain. Her extensive research and teaching background focuses on the fields of planning, governance, and development in tourism. She has collaborated with numerous national and international universities and she works as advisor and researcher in several projects with the UNWTO, The Women’s Institute in Spain, and other institutions such as the Inter-American Development Bank, the European Union, and the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation. She also participates in many projects with public tourism administrations in Europe, Latin America, and Asia.

Edna Rozo Bellón <edna.rozo@uexternado.edu.co> is a doctoral student at Externado University of Colombia in Social Sciences. She has a Master degree in Cultural Tourism from The Cañada Blanch Foundation of Spain, a Master degree in Tourism from the Scuola Internazionale di Science Turistiche, Italy, and a Master degree in Planning and Management from the Andes University of Colombia. She is Director of the Master in Tourism Planning and Management, Research Coordinator, Professor and researcher in planning, territorial development, sustainability, and imaginaries of tourism in the Hotel and Tourism Management Faculty of the Externado University of Colombia. She is Editor of the journal Turismo y Sociedad.

Lisa Ruhanen <l.ruhanen@uq.edu.au> is Senior Lecturer and Director of Postgraduate Programs in Tourism in the School of Business at The University of Queensland, Australia. Her research is in the area of tourism policy and planning in the contexts of sustainable destination policy and planning, climate change, and Indigenous tourism. She has been involved in over 30 international and Australian research and consultancy projects. Lisa has worked extensively as a consultant, external collaborator, and executive committee member with a variety of UNWTO divisions. In 2010 Lisa was awarded a fellowship under the Oxford Brookes University International Visiting Fellow Scheme in the United Kingdom.

Agustín Santana-Talavera <asantana@ull.es>, PhD in Social Anthropology, is Professor of the University of La Laguna in Tenerife of Spain and Director of Institute of Social and Political Sciences. His research is framed in the anthropology of tourism (product, impact, methodology) and has appeared in several books and articles. He is Founder and Editor-in-Chief of PASOS: Journal of Tourism and Cultural Heritage, e-journal www.pasosonline.org. In the applied field, he has done consulting work on clustering techniques, institutions and companies, and designed research. He has taught courses in tourism in several countries in Americas and Europe.

Regina Schlüter <regina_schluter@yahoo.com>, PhD in Social Psychology from the John F. Kennedy University in Argentina, is Professor at the National University of Quilmes, Argentina; Director of the Center for Tourism Research and Studies, Argentina; and Editor-in-Chief of Studies and Perspectives in Tourism. Her main research areas are local development, rural tourism, and heritage management. She is the author of books, book chapters, and journal articles published in Latin America, Spain. and the United Kingdom.

Dilek Ünalan <unalan@boun.edu.tr> is Associate Professor in the Department of Tourism Administration, Boğaziçi University, Turkey. Her research interests include urban planning and governance, urban ecology, tourism planning, responsible tourism, and global environmental changes and policies. She has published numerous articles in such journals as Land Use Policy, Policy & Politics, Environmental Impact Assessment Review, and Environmental Policy and Governance.

Michelle Whitford <m.whitford@griffith.edu.au> is Senior Lecturer and Higher Degree Research Convenor in the Department of Tourism, Sport and Hotel Management, Griffith University. Her primary research interests focus on the development, implementation, and evaluation of public policy pertaining to tourism and events and the development of public policy for indigenous tourism and events. She is the recipient of such awards as Outstanding Paper BESTEN Think Tank, Vienna, UTAS Faculty of Business Award Best Paper in Sport & Event Tourism, Best Paper (Special Mention) 2005 CAUTHE, and Best Paper Award 2004 of Las Vegas International Hospitality and Convention Summit.
