The ensuing chapters explore the conditions and foundational basis for leaders and followers in achieving peace, reconciliation, and social justice, in particular contexts. In them, can be found a wonderful cast of academics and practitioners from various disciplines across the world who examine and question our current leadership and followership models and paradigms capacity and effectiveness to face the challenges of the twenty-first century.
New leadership approaches are needed to address the root causes of conflicts and building inclusive societies that resist violence and more critically prevent it. The world order and the structures of international law that were forged after the World War II seem to be unraveling. In times of heavy attacks on multilateralism and the rules-based order, the rise of populism and nationalism, we must call out and question the poor leadership (and their enabling followers) that we see around us.
