In 2010, the two of us had the privilege of writing the epilogue to the first book, which offered a skeletal theory of bridge leadership presented by Autumn Tooms (now Cypres) and Christa Boske. In this edited book, the chapter authors, many of whom were the original thinkers behind what is now referred to as leadership for social justice, were given the opportunity to rethink, revise, or reaffirm their ideas in first person self-reflective narratives. Not only did this edited text contribute to the emerging ideas of bridge leadership as a theory, it was also a genuine narrative history of events describing who, what, where, when, and how social justice ideas entered into the writings of educational leadership researchers. As a history lesson, it was a significant contribution to our field’s literature.
