Lisbon is the capital of Portugal, and according to the census of 2011 its metropolitan area has a population of more than 2.8 million people (INE, 2012). Lisbon and other cities in Portugal have passed in the last decades through a process of active reconstruction that brought new investments and hospitality infrastructures into these cities.
From 2006 several low-cost airline companies (LCCs) started regular operations at Lisbon airport. In 2011, Lisbon airport had eight LCCs in this segment, with a total of 2 million passengers' movements (INAC, 2012), to compare in 2017 the number of passengers movements in this segment was of more than 10 million (INAC, 2017).
