Open forum

This forum was chaired by Mr Ron Goodfellow, Mott MacDonald Ltd. The panel members were Mr Trevor Freund of Deminex UK & Gas, Mr Gregory King of Mobil North Sea Limited, Mr John Carter of Shell UK Exploration and Production and Mr Colin Braithwaite of British Gas Pic.

Opening the discussion Mr Freund stated that he felt that the future would see a move to subsea production as there would no longer be the same need for large jackets because of the mature infrastructure in the North Sea. He also felt that there would be a need to develop the more marginal fields, use new technology to extract the oil that has been left behind by conventional methods, and that there should be a move to the partnering type of arrangement so that the above can be achieved.
