The mission of the Research Methodology in Strategy and Management book series is “to provide a forum for critique, commentary, and discussion about key methodology issues in the strategic management field” because “strategic management relies on an array of complex methods drawn from various allied disciplines to examine how managers attempt to lead their firms toward success.” Strategic management is not only “undergoing a rapid transformation in methodological rigour” but also spreading to hitherto virgin contexts such as China (Wang, Ketchen, & Berg, 2012) and Africa (Acquaah, Zoogah, & Kwesiga, 2013; Budhwar & Debrah, 2004; Strategic Management Society, 2014; Zoogah & Nkomo, 2013). Researchers in these context “face many new challenges about how to conduct their research and in understanding the implications that are associated with their research choices” in much the same way that those of developed contexts such as America and Europe encounter.
