It is my task to sum up and I hope that my thoughts represent conditions for cubes. They felt that the objects of site testing

a reasonable summary.

This has been the first Symposium to be held in this

country on the non-destructive testing of two specific

structural materials—timber and concrete. In his opening

address, Dr Jellett referred to timber as a highly individual

material; later, Mr Elvery mentioned cement as a flawed

material; and I venture to suggest that these descriptions are

not inappropriate for the two materials. Both concrete and

timber have individual personalities which are extremely

complex; sociologically they might both be described as
