First page of Status quo and opportunities in primary school science: Implications for teacher education

Changes in education policies and the science education curricula over the years have influenced science teacher education as well as the way in which educators and researchers conduct research and development activities. Science education documents from Australia, Hong Kong, the United Kingdom, and the United States have been referred to for a brief review of the initiatives in science education at the primary level (see the  appendix). One of these initiatives is about promoting open-ended science inquiry, which includes scientific reasoning and the connection between mathematics and science. Another initiative is about science learning in the classroom, including collaborative learning and e-learning.
