Concrete pavements are widely used in the US and are the pavements of choice for heavily trafficked highways in many States. In fact, a large portion of the US interstate and primary highway system was originally constructed using concrete pavements. Well-designed and well-constructed concrete pavements continue to provide 20 plus years of initial low-maintenance service life. The US concrete pavement technology has evolved over the years based on theoretical formulations, field experience, laboratory testing, and contractor innovations. This paper summarizes current US practices and anticipated new technologies in the areas of pavement design, concrete materials, construction techniques, repair and rehabilitaton, and used satisfaction
