Dora Agapito <dlagapito@ulag.pt> holds a PhD in Tourism and an MSc in Marketing. Her dissertation was on the role of the sensory dimension of tourist experiences in rural areas. She teaches courses of Marketing, Communication and Image, and Social Marketing at the Faculty of Economics of University of Algarve, and is a member of the Research Centre for Spatial and Organizational Dynamics (www.cieo.pt). Her research interests are in tourism and marketing, focusing on sensory marketing, tourist experiences quality, rural tourism, destination image and branding, consumer behavior, and social marketing.

Rodolfo Baggio <rodolfo.baggio@unibocconi.it> holds a degree in Physics (MPhys) from the University of Milan, Italy and a PhD in Tourism Management from The University of Queensland, Australia. After having worked for more than 20 years in the Information Technology industry, he is now at the Bocconi University (Milan, Italy) where he coordinates the Information and Communication Technologies area at the Master in Economics and Tourism, and is research fellow at the Dondena Centre for Research on Social Dynamics. He actively researches and publishes on the use of information and communication technology in tourism and on the applications of quantitative complex network analysis methods to the study of destinations.

Federica Buffa <federica.buffa@unitn.it> holds PhD in Business Economics, since 2011 she is Assistant Professor in Economics and Business Management at the Department of Economics and Management, University of Trento (Italy). Since 2001 she is a member of the eTourism research group and since 2013 of the EMASUS (Economics, Management and Sustainable Consumption) research group headed by Prof. Franch (University of Trento). Actively involved in Economics and Business Management studies, her current research activities focus on governance and management of multi-stakeholder territorial systems; strategy and management of small and medium tourism enterprises; consumer behavior, decisionmaking process, and sustainability attitude of tourist demand.

Daniele Cannatella <daniele.cannatella@unina.it> is a PhD candidate in Urban Planning and Environmental Assessment in the Department of Architecture (DiArc) at the University of Naples “Federico II,” Italy. He is currently PhD guest at the TU Delft, The Netherlands. He holds a II level Master in Sustainable Planning and Design of Port Areas, as well as a Master Degree in Urban Planning, Urban design and Landscape-Environmental design from University of Naples “Federico II.” His main topics are building resilience in coastal and port cities through the implementation of multidimensional strategies and social vulnerability aspects in natural disasters.

David Cárdenas <dcardenas@hrsm.sc.edu> is a Research Associate in the SmartState’s Center of Economic Excellence in Tourism and Economic Development and Associate Professor at the University of South Carolina in the School of Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism Management. His research interests are in sustainable development, resident attitudes, destination marketing, and international tourism education. He has extensive experience working on community-based tourism planning projects in the United States, Aruba, Columbia, Curacao, and Ecuador, specifically working to engage and involve local residents in the sustainable tourism development process.

Guilherme Castela <gcastela@ualg.pt> is Professor of Management and Quantitative Methods. Holder of an advanced degree in both Economics and Management Sciences and Applied Statistics, he also holds a doctorate in Multivariate Statistics from the University of Salamanca. He is an expert in data analysis and a member of the Research Centre for Spatial and Organizational Dynamics. His fields of research involve Quantitative and Qualitative Methods applied to such diverse areas as Health, Management, Business Strategy, Marketing, Tourism, and Sociology.

William Claster <wclaster@apc.ac.jp> is Professor of Mathematics and Data Science at Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University in Japan. He served as Principal Data Scientist at GalvanizeU in San Francisco, and manages a Data Analytics Center in Beppu, Japan. He has taught computer science at Stanford University, USA, and Waseda, Sophia, and Temple University in Japan. His current research is in Text and Sentiment Mining. He has worked with major banks, including Barclays, USB, and Goldman Sachs. He has also managed software companies in Japan. Professor Claster has published widely in the field of the applications of data analytics to real-world problems.

Massimo Clemente <m.clemente@iriss.cnr.it> is Professor and Research Director at the Institute of Research on Innovation and Services for Development, National Research Council of Italy. He coordinates the group City and Architecture that collaborates with international institutions, universities, research centers, governmental and local authorities. The research activities are concerned with the city and architecture as tools to realize sustainable development in environmental, social, and economic dimensions. At present, he is focused on the possible contribution of urban planning and design into local sustainable development process—in particular, in seaside cities and he is author of about 100 scientific works in these fields.

Edoardo Colombo <edocolombo@gmail.com> is an expert and consultant at the intersection of innovation, digital communication, and tourism. He is consultant to Poste Italiane for tourism industry dedicated services, and has been member of the Digital Tourism Lab of the Italian Ministry of Heritage, Cultural Activities and Tourism. He has advised numerous governmental agencies, such as the Task Force for the Application of the Digital Agenda of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers and the Agency for the Promotion of Technologies for Innovation of the Italian government. Edoardo is adjunct professor of Strategic analysis of tourism plans and digital tourism in the Culture and Tourism management advanced training course of Consorzio Humanitas—Lumsa in Rome.

Malcolm Cooper <cooperm@apu.ac.jp> is Emeritus Professor at Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University, Beppu, Japan. He is also Visiting Professor at Saburagamuwa University, Sri Lanka. Formerly Vice President for International Relations and Research at APU, his research interests lie in dark tourism, geotourism, destination branding, water resource management, and environmental law. He has over 150 academic publications, including 15 books. He has had a parallel career has been in the city planning and tourism policy areas for Federal, State and Local Governments in Australia and New Zealand, and has been a consultant to the Governments of China, Sri Lanka, and Vietnam.

Mario L. E. Córdoba <macordoba@uade.edu.ar> holds a Bachelor of Tourism of the University of Morón, Republic Argentina and Master in Environmental Management Tourism: Ecotourism at the Polytechnic University of Madrid-Spain. He has over 25 years’ experience in the business, academic, research, and tourism management world. He is currently Director of the Master in Business Management of Tourism and the Department of Tourism and Hospitality of the Argentina University of the Company. Previously he served as Coordinator of International loans from the Inter-American Development Bank, Consultant for the World Bank, and European Union expert on strategic and participatory planning in Costa Rica, Panama, Bolivia, and Chile.

Luigi D’Ambrosio <luda@ucn.dk> holds an MA in Culture, Communication, and Globalization from Aalborg University. He teaches primarily within the following subjects: Tourism Management, Intercultural Competencies, Organizational Culture, and Theory of Science and Methodology. D’Ambrosio is born and raised in the area of Campi Flegrei, a destination which he has been researching since his Master’s Thesis in 2008. His research interests cover the fields of Destination Branding, Destination Networks, Consumer Behavior, Authenticity, Tourism Management, and Hospitality Management. D’Ambrosio has conducted research in the field of guest behavior in hospitality and tourism focusing on the authentic guest experience in ethnic restaurants.

Marcella De Martino <m.demartino@iriss.cnr.it> is a researcher at Institute for Research on Innovation and Services for Development (IRISS)—National Research Council (CNR). Her main research field is port competitiveness from a managerial and organizational perspective. In recent years, she has broadened her research interests to include: knowledge transfer and tourism destination competitiveness; service innovation and collaboration for SME’s competitiveness. Extensive research has resulted in a large number of national and international publications. She is a founding member of the t-Forum Association.

Eleonora Giovene di Girasole <e.giovenedigirasole@iriss.cnr.it> hold a PhD in Evaluation Methods for the Integrated Conservation of Architectural, Urban and Environmental Heritage. She is research fellow at the Institute of Research on Innovation and Services for Development, National Research Council of Italy. Since 2003 she has participated in scientific activities of University of Naples Federico II and research activities at the CNR, with a focus on the sustainable upgrading of the suburbs, intercultural cities planning, the integration between urban transformation and mobility management, collaborative maritime urban transformations in seaside city and social vulnerability to natural disasters.

Luisa Errichiello <l.errichiello@iriss.cnr.it> is a researcher at the Institute for Research on Innovation and Services for Development (IRISS), National Research Council of Italy (CNR). She obtained a PhD in Engineering and Economics of Innovation from Salerno University in 2012. Her area of research lies in service innovation and focuses on organizational change and routines, organizing technology and innovation, network management. Her research has been published in numerous journals including European Review of Service Economics and Management, Research in Transportation Business & Management, World Journal of Tourism, Leisure and Sport.

Bruno S. Ferreira <bsimoes@ncsu.edu> is a doctoral student in Equitable and Sustainable Tourism at North Carolina State University. His research focuses on the psychological antecedents of tourism microentrepreneurship, in particular the role of the tourism e-microentrepreneurial self-efficacy mechanism in human agency among individuals with vulnerable livelihoods. Other areas of interest include tourism management, performance-based management systems, social entrepreneurship and development through sport. Prior to his studies at NC State, Bruno worked in Europe, Africa and South America, as a project manager and consultant in community development projects.

Adão Flores <aflores@ualg.pt> holds a PhD in Management from the Faculty of Economics, University of Algarve. He is Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Economics, University of Algarve, a member of the coordination board of the Masters in economy of innovation and entrepreneurship and teaches Entrepreneurship, Introduction the management, policy and strategy of tourism, management of tourist destinations, qualitative methodologies for research. He provides national coordination of several European projects and coordinator of the group of work of entrepreneurship of UALG (2010–2013). Member of the Research Centre for Spatial and Organizational Dynamics (CIEO) of the University of Algarve.

Sarah Gardiner <s.gardiner@griffith.edu.au> is Senior Lecturer in tourism and hotel management at Griffith University. She has a PhD in Marketing from Griffith University and has published in several high-ranking tourism journals. Prior to that, Sarah worked for more than 15 years in the private and government sectors of the Gold Coast tourism industry, managing several marketing, and product development strategies. She has provided consultancy services to industry in the areas of tourism, events, marketing, and community engagement. Sarah’s current research interests are consumer behavior and tourism destination marketing and development.

Ladan Ghahramani <Lghahra@ncsu.edu> is a PhD student in the Department of Parks, Recreation, and Tourism Management at NC State University. She holds a Masters of Arts in Tourism and Hospitality Management and Marketing, Allameh Tabatabai University, Tehran, Iran. Her doctoral research explores human-environment technology interactions, applying emerging methodologies to better understand when, where, how, and why tourists and visitors move throughout cultural and heritage sites. Included in this work is understanding why and how site managers are integrating technology into their sites to improve this accessibility and enhance tourist experiences.

Henrique Graça <henriquejpgraca@sapo.pt> holds a Master Degree in Economy of Innovation and Entrepreneurship from the University of the Algarve. He collaborates with several entities as a consultant in the areas of Entrepreneurship, Communication and Marketing. Jan Halberg Madsen <jhm@ucn.dk> holds an MSc in Marketing Management from Aalborg University and a Diploma in Business Administration in Marketing Management. At University College of Northern Denmark, he teaches primarily within the following subjects: Experience Economy, Tourism Management, Destination Management, Marketing Management, and Business Strategy. Simon Hudson <shudson@hrsm.sc.edu> is the SmartState Endowed Chair in Tourism & Economic Development at the University of South Carolina. He has held previous academic positions at universities in Canada and England, and has worked as a visiting professor in Austria, Switzerland, Spain, Fiji, New Zealand, the United States, and Australia. Prior to working in academia, Dr. Hudson spent several years working in the tourism industry in Europe. Dr. Hudson has written over 60 journal articles and published seven books. The marketing of tourism is the focus of his research, and he frequently invited to international conferences as a keynote speaker.

Pedro Moncada Jiménez <pmoncada@ucaribe.edu.mx> is Research Professor at the department of sustainable tourism, gastronomy and hotels at the Universidad del Caribe. Marilicia Longobardi <archilongobardi@gmail.com> is an architect with a doctorate in architecture from Oxford Brookes University, United Kingdom. Her numerous publications and research interests focus on the study of cultural heritage, particularly the relationship between archaeological sites and tourism. She is a member of Department of Cultural Heritage at Ordine degli Architetti P.P.e C. in the Naples metropolitan area and is a member of Cultural Commission for the Herculaneum Capital of Culture. Currently she is undertaking a second degree in urban and environmental planning course at University of Federico II of Naples.

Iris Lopes <igoncal@ualg.pt> is Professor of Tourism and Quantitative Methods applied to Economics and Management (Faculty of Economics of the University of Algarve, Campus de Gambelas, Faro-Portugal). She holds a PhD in Tourism and a Masters in Economics and Business Studies, both by the University of Algarve. She is a member of the Research Centre for Spatial and Organizational Dynamics. Specialized in applied Data Analysis, in the past few years she has collaborated in several Tourism post-graduate courses. Umberto Martini <umberto.martini@unitn.it> is Professor of Economics and Management is responsible of the courses of Tourism and of Marketing Advanced at the Department of Economics and Management of the University of Trento (Italy). He was also the director of the Master of Tourism Management at the same university from 2003 to 2009. His main research interests concern destination management and marketing. From 2009 to 2011 was the scientific coordinator of the Central Europe European Research Project "LISTEN to the Voice of Villages"; from 2010 to 2012 he coordinated an Italian research group on sustainability and management involving 10 universities and research centers.

Casimiro Martucci <casimiro.martucci@gmail.com> graduated in Architecture cum laude in 2014 from the University of Naples Federico II. His thesis was conducted in collaboration with the National Research Council of Italy. He investigated integration between public and private use on Naples waterfront areas within the custom border of Naples Port Authority, analyzing the best practice of New York City. He now works in CNR IRISS and collaborates in research activities on urban regeneration in coastal areas. He is also working on the “Monumentando Napoli” Program, promoted by the UNESCO Programme for the Valorisation of the Naples Historic Town Centre

Fang Meng <fmeng@hrsm.sc.edu> is a Research Associate in the SmartState Center of Economic Excellence in Tourism and Economic Development and Associate Professor in the School of Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism Management at the University of South Carolina. Duarte B. Morais <dbmorais@ncsu.edu> is an Associate Professor of Equitable and Sustainable Tourism in Department of Parks, Recreation & Tourism Management College of Natural Resources, NC State University, a North Carolina Tourism Extension Specialist, and the lead investigator of the People-First Tourism Laboratory. Professor Morais examines how tourism is used by those with power to sustain their long-standing dominance, and how tourism microentrepreneurship can be used by subaltern people to earn improved livelihoods and gain human agency. The knowledge he generates in collaboration with key stakeholders is not only disseminated to the academic community but shared through vibrant extension and outreach programs.

Shahab Nazariadli <snazari@ncsu.edu> is a PhD student of Equitable and Sustainable Tourism and a research assistant in the People-First Tourism Lab. His Bachelor of Arts is in Architecture, Islamic Azad University of Qazvin and Masters of Arts in Landscape Architecture from University of Tehran. He employs participatory visualization methods to examine ways in which rural microentrepreneurs and visitors perceive the appeal of destination landscapes. He is interested in the role of tourism to infuse meaning and entity to architectural destinations, and on the prominence of architecture per se as an antecedent for tourism development.

Alexandre Panosso Netto <panosso@usp.br> is Associate Professor at University of Sao Paulo (USP), School of Arts, Sciences and Humanities (EACH). He is a Professor in the Master Program of Cultural Studies, Master Program of Tourism and Leisure and Tourism undergraduate program at USP/EACH. Elsa Pereira <elsapereira@sapo.pt> holds a PhD in Sport Management from the University of Lisbon. She is an expert in sport tourism and Professor at the School of Education and Communication of the University of Algarve. She teaches nautical sports, sport management projects, and sport, leisure and tourism. She is a member of the Research Centre for Spatial and Organizational Dynamics and of the entrepreneurship commission of University of Algarve (2013–2015). She is author of several publications on sport management and tourism. Research interests include strategic management in sports, sports and the development of the communities, sports and tourism, sports events.

Patrícia Pinto <pvalle@ualg.pt> holds a PhD in applied statistics to economics and business. She is also the Vice-president of the Research Centre on Spatial and Organizational Dynamics, a member of the coordinating body of the PhD program in Tourism and the Chair of the Quantitative Methods Department. Her current research interests are in applied statistics and modeling in the areas of integrated quality management in tourism destinations, events management, destination marketing, customer satisfaction, and environment behavior. Efigénio Rebelo <elrebelo@ualg.pt> Professor of Quantitative Methods Applied to Economics and Management. PhD holder in Economic Science, specialized in Econometrics, he also holds both an MA in Econometrics by the School of Economics of the University of Manchester and an MSc in Mathematics Applied to Economics and Management by the University of Lisbon. Professor Rebelo has been a member of the Research Centre for Spatial and Organizational Dynamics and his publications are mainly in the field of theoretical and applied quantitative methods.

Noel Scott <noel.scott@griffith.edu.au> is Professor and Deputy Director of the Griffith Institute for Tourism at Griffith University, Gold Coast Australia. His research interests include the study of tourism experiences, destination management, and stakeholder organization. He is a frequent speaker at international academic and industry conferences. He has over 210 academic publications, including 13 books. He has supervised 18 doctoral students to successful completion of their theses. Prior to his academic career, Noel worked as a senior manager at Tourism Queensland and Research and Planning Manager at Suncorp Building Society.

João Albino Silva <jsilva@ualg.pt> is Professor of Economics and a member of the Research Centre for Spatial and Organizational Dynamics, he holds both a PhD and an MA in Economics by the University of Lisbon. Professor Silva is the Chair of the Economics Department and the Director of the PhD Programme in Tourism. He is also the President of the National Commission for the Assessment of University Tourism Programs. His current research interests and publications include economics of tourism, development of tourism destinations, sustainability, and governance in tourism.

Carlos Eduardo Silveira <caesilveira@hotmail.com> is Professor in Tourism and teaches at undergraduate and masters level at the Federal University of Paraná (UFPR). His research interests focus on services marketing and service management, with a special emphasis on customer engagement and interactions in social media, service branding, electronic word of mouth, and internal branding in the tourism and hospitality industry.

Le Quang Thai <le.thai.jp@ieee.org> is a recent graduate from Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University (Japan) in the field of Business Administration, focusing on Marketing and Strategic Management. His research interests and publications include the study of applied programming in business, computational modeling in decision-science, social network analysis and machine learning. He plans to continue his research activities as a graduate student in the Department of Computer Science and Applied Mathematics at the Illinois Institute of Technology (USA). He has been a member of IEEE since 2014.

Luiz Gonzaga Godoi Trigo <trigo@usp.br> is a full Professor of Leisure and Tourism at the University of São Paulo (USP), School of Arts, Sciences and Humanities. He holds a PhD in Education from Universidade Estadual de Campinas (UNICAMP). Professor at Master Programs of Cultural Studies and Tourism at University of São Paulo, São Paulo, Brazil. He has published 22 books and dozens of articles and book chapters in the areas of travel and tourism, education and entertainment. He has experience in tourism and conducts research mainly in the following themes: culture, tourism, education, society, politics, and entertainment.

Kazem Vafadari <kazemv@gmail.com> is Associate Professor in Tourism and Hospitality Management at Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University, Beppu, Japan. He is a specialist consultant in Globally Important Agricultural Heritage Systems for the FAO. He teaches tourism policy and research methods. From 2008 to 2011 he was Research Fellow at the Institute of Nature and Environmental Technology, Kanazawa University, Kanazawa City, Japan, and JSPS-UNU Post-Doctoral Research Fellow, United Nations University, Institute of Advanced Studies UNU-IAS, Kanazawa City, Japan. He has published over 20 papers in the ecotourism, heritage, and medical tourism areas, including 2 books.

Jan van der Borg <jan.vanderborg@kuleuven.be> obtained a Master in Regional Economics and a PhD in Economics from the Erasmus University Rotterdam (NL). He teaches tourism economics and tourism management at the University of Leuven (KU Leuven, Belgium) and the University Ca’Foscari Venice (IT), coordinating the master courses in tourism of both universities. He has published extensively on issues regarding urban tourism, sustainable tourism development, the tourism carrying capacity and tourism policy. Moreover, he advises tourism organizations and firms on the same issues and is advisor to Visit Flanders, the national Flemish DMO.

Egbert van der Zee <egbert.vanderzee@ees.kuleuven.be> is a tourism researcher with the division of geography and tourism at the University of Leuven (KU Leuven, Belgium). He received his MSc degree in Geography and Planning at Utrecht University in the Netherlands. Currently, his current research focuses on tourism networks and the competitiveness of Flemish art cities as tourist destinations, funded by the Flemish agency for Innovation by Science and Technology (IWT). His main research interests are performance of destinations, stakeholder collaboration, spatial behavior of tourists, social network analysis, Big Data, and geographic information science (GIS).

Mathilda Van Niekerk <Mathilda.VanNiekerk@ucf.edu> is Assistant Professor in the Rosen College of Hospitality Management at the University of Central Florida, USA. She has over 100 academic publications (refereed journal articles, books, book chapters, case studies, encyclopedia entries, training manuals, industry reports, and conference papers). Her research focuses on festivals and events, destination marketing and management and hospitality and strategic management. Dr. Van Niekerk is the Managing Editor for the International Journal of Contemporary Hospitality Management (IJCHM). Prior to her academic career she had extensive experience in mega-events and festivals, local economic development, tourism, and trade in South Africa.

Dominique Vanneste <dominique.vanneste@ees.kuleuven.be> is Associate Professor at the University of Leuven (KU Leuven), Department of Earth & Environmental Sciences, Division of Geography. She is involved in the research groups of Human Geography and Tourism. She is the director of a Research and Development Unit “ASTOR” (Association for Tourism Research) and program director for the KU Leuven part of an Erasmus Mundus Master in Sustainable Territorial Development. She represents KU Leuven with the UNITWIN-UNESCO network and with the UNWTO Knowledge Network. Her main research interests and lecturing topics are: economic and historical geography and tourism.

Lone Møller Wejrum <lmw@ucn.dk> holds an MSc in International Business Economics from Aalborg University and is currently enrolled in the Master Certificate in Revenue Management program at Cornell University. She teaches primarily within the fields of Business Economics, Financial Management and Revenue Management. Her research interests: Didactics, Tourism Management, Hospitality Management, and Revenue Management. Lone Møller Wejrum is an experienced professional within the Danish educational system and has participated in the development of the curricula for the AP in Service, Hospitality and Tourism management and BA program in International Hospitality Management.
