It may be asking much of any leader to transform society, for that is a major task requiring the commitment of leaders at many different levels in society. However, those who are in powerful global leadership roles can do much to create more inclusive societies if they have an inclusive mindset. The plight of the poor and the disenfranchised is a social concern and should surely be a concern for our chosen leaders in the contexts within which they operate. An inclusive society would seek to eliminate child poverty and address the gaping inequalities we can see all around us. Inclusive societies would be those in which all parties are treated with equal respect and afforded the freedoms to choose to live the lives that we value, access to education, healthcare, food and shelter.
