MR W. M. YOUNG, Stirling Maynard & Partners, Peterborough With reference to Paper 4, my company has not yet used it s CAD system for this type of detailing, but in my four years' experience as a consultant advising manufacturers on CADCAM under the Department of Trade and Industry Scheme, every application which has shown potential for a large productivity increase has been based on parametric drawings. Could the Author please comment?
MR J. S. L. COOPER, Mid Glamorgan County Council We are investing heavily in CAD and hope to achieve savings not only in improved staff productivity, but also in reduced final build costs and claims, and in the possibility of loss of grants from government. We also hope to achieve savings over the current costs of our computing systems. Finally, organisations which do not invest in CAD will find it increasingly difficult to attract good quality staff.
