How do you interpret your measured deviations from thermodynamically regular solutions and do you have any feel for probable values of sodium chloride solubility in liquid sodium?

C G ALLAN

The solutions show large deviations from ideality and smaller but significant deviations from regularity. The latter are temperature dependant, when one compares partial molar excess entropies of mixing calculated from the present results with those obtained at higher temperatures by Castleman and Tang and by Clough. This is interpreted as being due to solvation of the halide ion, the degree of short range order being greater at low temperatures.
