Maria Laura Angelini is a Professor and Researcher at the Universidad Católica of Valencia “San Vicente Mártir.” She is accredited by the National Quality Assessment and Accreditation Agency of Spain as an Associate Professor. She is the Chief Researcher of the Interdisciplinary Group on Active Learning and Assessment. She integrates active teaching–learning methods and formative and shared assessment. She conducts action research through the application of simulation in English language teaching, which is reflected in her numerous publications. She has recently published the books Learning Through Simulations. Ideas for Educational Practitioners (2021) Ed. Springer; and La simulación como estrategia educativa. Propuesta adaptada para el medio físico y virtual (2021) Ed. Dykinson. She is an Erasmus + accredited Virtual Exchange Trainer. Through the simulation scenarios she designs, she promotes understanding of educational and other social issues, encourages respect for human and animal rights and the development of empathy. She is currently researching the effectiveness of large-scale simulation through virtual exchange between pre-service teachers, in-service teachers and academics from different international institutions. She has been recently awarded the 1st prize on Educational Innovation 2021 by the Universidad Católica of Valencia “San Vicente Mártir” for her Project: “Sim+V.E” (Simulation + Virtual Exchange in Teacher Training).
