Purpose

This chapter seeks to establish the major probative effect of ITS on the future of logistics in the supply chain. In the presented chapter, the author's goal is to explore how ITS technologies contribute to the enhancement of performance, sustainability, and resilience to disruptions in transportation systems and, as a result, advance logistics.

Need for the study

Globalization and ever-growing complications of supply chains have been seen as fostering the need for organizations to seek solutions that offer the most efficient ways of handling logistics. With the help of advanced technologies, ITS can be viewed as a solution to these issues and improve the flow of information and products in transport networks.

Methodology

This chapter also includes the synthesis of the existing literature and case studies to evaluate the impact of ITS on future logistics. It looks at real-time tracking, predictive analysis, and autonomous transportation, among other ITS technologies, in relation to the supply chain's efficiency, sustainability, and reliability.

Findings

The findings suggest that ITS plays a significant role in changing the supply chain dynamism. ITS technologies can provide a competitive edge in the marketplace by enhancing supply chain efficiency, sustainability, and reliability.

Practical Implications

The study has real-world implications for managers and policymakers. With the help of ITS solutions, companies can improve customer satisfaction. Through regulatory frameworks and incentives, policymakers can encourage the adoption of ITS, thereby promoting sustainability and innovation in the transportation sector.
