Table A4 and the Disaggregated Database will be explained below. To access the disaggregated database, go to: https://www.researchgate.net/profile/Barbara-Tundidor-2. Accessing this database will be useful as we analyze the new disaggregated data.
Table A4 shows the new estimates for landgini, illiteracy, the large holding ratio, and the available estimates of the most relevant authors in this field. To see the estimates for all the countries in the sample, to consult the results of the landgini, the large holding ratio, and the level of illiteracy, country by country and disaggregated for all subnational levels, access the database: https://www.researchgate.net/profile/Barbara-Tundidor-2.37
Thanks to resorting to the original censuses from each country, it has been possible to contribute with more new estimates for this period at national and subnational levels. At the national level (Table A4), Taylor and Hudson (1972) offer a total of 11 landginis estimates; Deininger and Olinto (1999) present a total of 10 landgini estimates. More recently, Frankema (2008) provided a complete dataset with 12 landgini estimates. This paper can offer 32 new estimates for the same period and countries thanks to the original censuses.
