This chapter discusses the potential advantages and opportunities for parents and preschool teachers when using material available on social media as a didactic tool to teach emotional intelligence and assertiveness. The focus is on the relevance of these skills in young children and the opportunities presented by educational clips on YouTube that model these behaviours. A simple assessment framework is created that can be used by teachers and parents to choose the material that can promote the learning of these skills. Additionally, this chapter presents a practical application of the theoretical components of emotional intelligence and assertiveness as elements of learning examples available on YouTube. Finally, the interrelation between emotional intelligence and assertiveness and the relevance of learning these skills as part of children's social and emotional development is introduced.
